Flu Season

Unfortunately, it is that time of year and we are starting to see influenza or "the flu" in the area.  Remember influenza is a respiratory virus not to be confused with a gastrointestinal illness.

The flu usually comes on suddenly. People who have the flu often feel some or all of these symptoms:
  • Fever (can be very high)  or feeling feverish/chills.
  • Cough.
  • Sore throat.
  • Runny or stuffy nose.
  • Muscle or body aches. (Body aches are usually proufound)
  • Headaches.
  • Fatigue (tiredness),
  • Children may have vomiting and diarrhea, although this uncommon in adults.

Visit CDC's website for more information:

During the flu season as with any illness, students should be fever free 24 hours without any Tylenol or Ibuprofen prior to returning to school. Students with a temperature over 100 or active diarrhea or vomiting will be sent home.  Students who vomit should stay home until 24 hours after the last vomiting episode.

Please contact  me for any questions or concerns.

For your health,

Nurse Kelly
